Mexico’s Guadalajara, on August 3: Sevilla defeated Real Betis 1-0 on Wednesday (August 2) in the Estadio Akron, Guadalajara, Mexico, to win their first-ever El Gran Derby played on foreign soil as part of the prestigious La Liga EA Sports Summer Tour 2023. In a thrilling turn of events, it was Youssef En-Nesyri who emerged as the hero for Sevilla, netting a dramatic late winner that sent the fans into a frenzy.
In the final seconds of the second half, En-Nesyri scored the game-winning goal, breaking Real Betis’ heart in their first-ever El Gran Derby abroad.
Real Betis vs. Sevilla has been one of the strongest rivalries in La Liga and in football for years, and now that it has been played outside of Spain for the first time, it has reached a new level. And it didn’t disappoint at all, thanks to the winner’s heroics throughout the extra period.

Atletico de Madrid will play Sevilla, while Real Betis will play Real Sociedad in a doubleheader on Saturday, August 5 at Oracle Park in San Francisco, California.
